The PGSA is managed by a group of postgraduates who volunteer their time to represent their fellow students, encourage excellence, and build community among postgraduate students at VUW who work to ensure you have the best possible academic experience. We run events, co-ordinate postgraduate student representation, and advocate for postgraduate students at VUW.

3MT Competition Winners Announced!

This event showcases the exceptional research endeavors of our talented postgraduate students who have condensed their extensive research into compelling three-minute presentations.

The finalists presented their video submissions August 16th, 2023 at 11:00 - 14:00 in the Hunter Council Chamber and received their prizes.

Our Regular Events

Breakfast Social

Our regular casual meet-up on Friday mornings with postgraduate colleagues across the University, starting from 9 am. Come socialise and enjoy a hot drink on us. All members are welcome, no matter which campus you normally study at.

First Friday in each month: Milk and Honey, Kelburn
Second Friday in each month: Te Aro
Fourth Friday in each month: The Lab, Pipitea
(Except for Christmas and New Year break)

Writing To Finish

A monthly communal working session on Thursdays from 9 am to 5 pm. The intention of this session is to connect the postgraduate community with other like-minded, hard-working peers as well as provide a safe, quiet space to foster motivation and inspiration, hinder procrastination, and accomplish study goals.

PGSA’s Event Sponsorship

The PGSA is proud to sponsor events organised and run by postgraduate students. Grants of up to $500 are available for social event-related costs such as food, beverages (non-alcoholic only) and venue hire. Events eligible for this grant may include workshops, group outings or other peer bonding activities.
