Victorias Awards 2018
The PGSA is proud to host the annual Victorias Awards which provide the opportunity to celebrate excellence within Victoria University and recognise the support of postgraduate students, academic and professional staff who are outstanding in their work.
The highlight of our celebrations is presenting the Victorias Awards that have been voted on by students of the University and are awarded in the following categories: Postgraduate Teaching Awards, Supervisor Awards, Professional Staff Award and the PGSA Landers Postgraduate Award. This event also recognises excellence in postgraduate research at VUW through the Victoria University of Wellington Postgraduate Research Excellence Awards. Ten Postgraduate Research Excellence Awards Winners will be announced at the awards reception.
This awards night recognises excellence in postgraduate education at VUW, for extraordinary work by students, staff and supervisors at inspiring, supporting, mentoring and for being extraordinary.
Every year we ask the Postgraduate Community to vote and nominate these individuals and every year we get votes and nominations but also pages and pages of writing about why an individual has received their vote as a suporvisor, tutor or professional staff member, and how they have personally mattered to the lives of postgraduates. Last years comments included “welcomed me to the country like family,” “offered consistent guidance,” “an honour to work with,” “helped me to enhance my confidence as a researcher, and “a visible and approachable point of contact for postgraduate students.”
This year is no different and the PGSA looks forward to celebrating excellence and extraordinary research and work being done in Victoria University of Wellington Postgraduate Community. Voting closes on 2 November 2018. Postgraduate students can find out more about the awards and vote online here
