PGSA is looking for postgraduate students who want to make a real impact by representing their peers on University and Faculty Boards and academic committees.
As a PGSA Representative, you’ll bring the postgraduate perspective to important conversations about:
academic policies
programme development
research support
supervision quality
student experience
equity and wellbeing
Your voice helps ensure postgraduate needs are heard at every level of the University.
Represent the interests, experiences, and concerns of thousands of postgraduate students.
Gain confidence in:
advocacy
communication
academic governance
leadership
meeting management
Great for academic careers, professional roles, and your CV.
Work directly with senior level staff, leading academics, and student representatives across the University.
Help shape projects, initiatives, and improvements that support postgrad success and wellbeing.
Most PGSA representative roles require:
attending a board or committee meeting once per month
reading meeting papers in advance
sharing the postgraduate perspective during discussions
sending a short monthly update to the PGSA Executive
supporting PGSA initiatives where relevant
No prior experience is needed — we will provide ongoing support.
Any enrolled postgraduate student at Te Herenga Waka:
Master’s (coursework or thesis)
PhD / Doctoral
Honours / Postgraduate Diploma
All disciplines and backgrounds are welcome.
